Disaster and Recovery Fund
Two Ridings Community Foundation is asking for donations so that we can continue to support people affected by flooding incidents and other disasters.
Two Ridings Community Foundation, like many local Community Foundations manages local appeals on behalf of households and small business owners that have been affected by flooding and other disasters.
We ensure that donations reach people and communities in need at the time of crisis and for the long term.
We are currently receiving and distributing donations for people and communities affected by flooding in our region of North & East Yorkshire.
In 2019/20 we are actively supporting communities in Swaledale, Wensleydale, Boroughbridge, Masham, Snaith, East Cowick, Hirst Courtney, Temple Hirst & West Bank. Please consider donating to help local people affected by flooding.
Currently our areas are not receiving any additional Government funding although we are making the case for support.
Money donated is used to support households where water went into houses (but not where it only went into gardens or garages). Our priority in the immediate aftermath of significant local flooding is to provide immediate straightforward financial support to people affected by the floods. This helps with urgent needs like the costs of living in temporary accommodation, or items to people so they could stay in their homes – e.g. costs of running dehumidifiers. This is followed by ongoing support to those with continuing needs subject to available funding.
PLEASE NOTE: Because the flooding in Snaith, East Cowick, Hirst Courtney, Temple Hirst & West Bank straddles the county boundaries of North & East Yorkshire, please contact us if you have any questions about where your donation should be targeted. Our aim is to support all residents and businesses affected but we understand some donors may wish to specify a specific area.
