Bettys and Taylors Group Community Fund

Bettys & Taylors Group logoBettys and Taylors Group have developed this fund as a part of their community support activity. So they wish to support activity that centres on employability, skills development, and work readiness for people affected by multiple disadvantage.

Your project should support:

  • Enabling employability and social mobility.
  • Upskilling young people to enter the workforce
  • Upskilling adults returning to work
  • Groups working to help people affected by multiple disadvantage to get ready for work.

We will give priority to groups who:

  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of the needs they are addressing,
  • Are based in an area of deprivation or work with a community disadvantaged for another reason.

What area does the fund cover?

Your organisation must also be based within a radius of approximately 10 miles of Bettys Café Tea Rooms and the Bettys and Taylors head office. These are located in York, Harrogate, Northallerton and Ilkley.

Size of grants

Activity Grants

You can apply for up to £3,000.

You can apply for project costs, and full cost recovery to support that project. If you need support with full cost recovery, please have at look at our guide: full cost recovery

You must be able to show how your project supports employability skills development.

However, please do not apply for overhead costs alone, or capital costs alone (except where small equipment costs are part of a larger request). For example, you could apply for a laptop or computer to assist with administration, or kitchen equipment with staff time, or learning resources alongside training costs.

Organisational Development

You can apply for up to £50,000 spent over three years.

Would you to do things differently, explore new ways of working and ideas  – the stuff that isn’t front line delivery? This is your opportunity to spend time developing your organisation. We are keen to support community-led work over three years that moves your organisation towards sustainability through improving capability and or capacity. We want to help foster long-term resilience.

You could use the funds for (and this list is not exhaustive):

  • Business planning and development
  • Developing governance and leadership (e.g. charity registration or registration as a form of social enterprise)
  • Developing monitoring and learning
  • Staff, key volunteer and trustee training
  • Testing new ways of working.

Please note, we cannot fund commission-based work, activity costs, or capital costs for more than 20% of your budget via organisational development.

Who can apply?

You can apply if your organisation is a:

  • constituted voluntary and community group
  • registered charity
  • co-operative
  • social enterprise
  • community interest company (CIC’s will be subject to additional scrutiny as outlined in our grant making policy)
  • Community Benefit Society (CBS’s will be subject to additional scrutiny as outlined in our grant making policy).

And
