Community First Whitby and Scarborough
The Community First Whitby and Scarborough Fund has been set up by the generosity of a local donor. Working with Two Ridings Community Foundation, the donation was increased by 50% courtesy of HM Government’s Office for Civil Society under the Community First endowment match challenge initiative.
As an endowment fund this generous donation will now be used to support the area and causes close to the donor’s heart long into the future.
The fund will support voluntary organisations, community groups, small charities and other types of not for profit organisation based in and/or serving the communities in the area served by Scarborough Borough Council and is aimed at projects working with older people and/or young people.
Size of grants

How to apply?
Before applying, please read the Community First Whitby and Scarborough Guidance Notes for this grant scheme carefully.
Applications are only considered complete when all supporting documentation has been received either attached to the online application or posted to the office as paper copies.
When to apply?
Awards are made on an ongoing basis subject to funding being available, there is no deadline. We aim to make decisions within 6 weeks of receiving an application.
We regret to advise that due to the current Coronavirus crisis in the United Kingdom, with the support of our funders and donors we are putting on hold the processing of grants that are not directly related to projects seeking to alleviate the effects of this crisis on the community, to mitigate the effects of the crisis on local voluntary sector groups or work related to flood recovery.
For details of the Coronavirus Community Fund and to make an application if the above applies to your group, please click here to see the details. We are positively encouraging groups to apply to us for support during this period and putting on hold other grant making allows us to prioritise this work.
For other, non-priority funds you may continue to complete an application and we will be in touch when our usual grant making programmes recommence. At present we do not know when this will be but we will keep this under review.
