Empowering communities across North and East Yorkshire with the QFUTURES Community Fund
We’re excited to announce a new partnership between rural broadband provider Quickline and Two Ridings Community Foundation, launching the QFUTURES Community Fund—a dynamic initiative aimed at enhancing digital inclusion and fostering community development across North and East Yorkshire. This fund is designed to empower local organisations to run projects that promote digital opportunities, helping to bridge the gap for marginalised and under-represented groups.
What is the QFUTURES Community Fund?
The QFUTURES Community Fund is focused on creating lasting, meaningful change in communities across York, Pocklington, and Selby. The fund is committed to helping people in these areas develop essential digital skills, with a particular focus on activities such as coding clubs, STEM programmes, digital literacy training, and more.
In its first year, the fund will specifically target projects that help address digital gaps within local communities. Whether it’s teaching coding to young people or providing digital literacy workshops for older adults, the fund will support initiatives that make a tangible difference to individuals’ lives.
Looking ahead
As we look to years two and three, the fund’s reach will expand across the entirety of North Yorkshire and East Riding. This growth will focus on not only enhancing digital skills but also boosting employability and strengthening community resilience. Our goal is to ensure that communities can thrive in the digital age, with access to the tools, knowledge, and resources needed to succeed.
Multi-year approach
One of the key features of the QFUTURES Community Fund is its multi-year approach. This fund provides continued support over two to three years; this means that organisations can plan, grow, and create lasting impact in their communities. By offering multi-year grants, we’re helping to create sustainable change that will benefit people for years to come.
As Celia McKeon, CEO of Two Ridings Community Foundation, puts it…
“This partnership with Quickline offers a significant opportunity to enhance digital inclusion. Through the QFUTURES Community Fund, we are excited to support projects that empower individuals and foster a more connected region.”
By supporting local organisations, we aim to ensure that everyone—no matter their background—has the chance to engage with and benefit from the digital world. The QFUTURES Community Fund will help individuals from under-represented groups access crucial digital training and resources, opening up new opportunities for learning and growth.
