Flood recovery: Timely action for a shattered community

On Tuesday 30th July 2019 heavy rainfall in the North Yorkshire Dales resulted in widespread flooding across Swaledale, Wensleydale and Arkengarthdale. The flooding caused extensive damage across the local area massively adversely affecting the lives of the local people.

Two Ridings Community Foundation responded to the disaster by establishing a Flood Recovery Fund providing grants directly to people in the community affected by the flooding.  Working with a Grants panel, made up of local people from the area, we awarded just shy of half a million worth of  grants (£490,620) so that people could cope, recover and build resilience after such a shocking crisis.

We are now in the second anniversary of the flooding and have commissioned this report to reflect on what happened and how the Fund has helped the people and places recover.

Grab a cup of Yorkshire tea and have a read.
