Two Ridings is looking for four new trustees to contribute to our vision of thriving and connected communities across North and East Yorkshire.

You’ll be an active member of our 16- strong board and participate in one of our board subcommittees (either Grants Committee, Investment Committee or Finance & General Purposes Committee.) You will be a natural advocate for Two Ridings and keen to attend events and initiatives as and when.

We are eager to have a diverse board at Two Ridings, a group of people that reflects the variety of people and communities we work alongside in the region.

You may bring first-hand experience of the needs of community groups and the people they work alongside. You will understand the potential that can be unlocked by impactful and equitable funding, and be passionate about ensuring that our work is relevant and catalytic, particularly among those communities who experience the greatest disadvantage.

Perhaps you have expertise in finance and investment and are determined that charities have the resources to pursue their mission. You might well be able to shape and monitor our investment strategy and ensure our financial planning and controls are of the highest standard.

Whatever your skillset, you will strive to be a part of a board that seeks to draw on the widest possible range of expertise and perspectives.

You’ll totally understand that people are at the heart of everything we do.

And naturally you will recognise the importance of ensuring Two Ridings complies with its legal requirements and governance.

You will enjoy being generously supportive to our Chief Exec and Senior Leadership team, but won’t be afraid to challenge them either.

Ultimately you will want to be involved in a charity that is a great place to work for the benefit of people and communities of the region.

We strongly encourage those who are uncertain if they are suitable or qualified to talk to us regardless.

What kind of person we are looking for

  • A passionate advocate for community action in Yorkshire, who understands the potentials and needs of voluntary sector organisations, and wants to make a positive difference to people’s lives.
  • A thoughtful, empathetic communicator, able to listen and engage in a broad range of settings with a variety of people.
  • A strategic thinker with the ability to contribute to decision-making around long-term direction, business planning and business development, and financial oversight.
  • A critical friend who can generously offer ideas, challenge and guidance to an experienced staff team.
