The Williams Family Fund
The Williams Family Fund was set up in 2022 to support children and young people in Yorkshire. We want to create lasting impact and change for children and young people, particularly those who have experienced adversity in their lives.
You should clearly demonstrate how they are supporting charitable activity for the direct wellbeing of children, young people and their families in at least one of the following priorities:
- Children in or coming out of care
- Young carers
- Children and families affected by fostering and/or adoption
- Children living in poverty
- Increasing opportunities for children and young people
- Social care
- Providing the digital infrastructure and other support to enable children and young people to access education and other activity that promotes learning
Size of grants
You can apply for a Small Grant or Main Grant.
We have a total pot of £170,000 available in this funding round.
Small Grants
- Apply for up to £3,000
- Funding can be spent over 12 months
- We expect to fund approximately 10 grants in this round
- Priority will be given to smaller grassroots organisations
Main Grants
- Apply for up to £30,000
- Funding can be spent over 24 months
- We expect to fund up to 5 grants in this round
Funding can contribute towards project costs, core costs and an appropriate proportion of organisational overheads through full cost recovery.
Who can apply?
The Williams Family Fund supports charities, community groups and other not for profit organisations with charitable aims and an annual turnover of less than £500,000.
You can apply if your organisation is based in, or works with people living in, York, North Yorkshire, Hull or East Yorkshire.
Who Cannot Apply?
We cannot accept applications from:
- Organisations based in and delivering activities within the former Harrogate District. Children and young people in this area are supported through the Local Fund for Harrogate.
- Organisations applying for a Main Grant that have been delivering activities for less than 12 months.
Capital Costs
Small capital items can be included as part of your project budget but should make up no more than 20% of the amount requested.
Capital items are non-consumable items that will continue to be used after the project has ended, such as laptops, tools or furniture.

Application deadline: 12 noon, 1 February 2027
Main Grants
Expression of Interest deadline: 12 noon, 14 December 2026
Shortlisted organisations will then be invited to submit a full application by 12 noon, 1 February 2027.
