THE LOCAL FUND for Harrogate District
THE LOCAL FUND for the Harrogate District is an innovative approach to creating a local, long term, sustainable fund to support local people and communities through charitable activity in the Harrogate district.
It’s all about funding local community and voluntary groups who in turn support hundreds of people. Whether that is activities for older people, affordable groceries for people living in poverty, rural entertainment for children in villages or support for asylum seekers arriving in our area, THE LOCAL FUND supports everyone.
THE LOCAL FUND was launched in January 2018 with the first grants awarded in July 2018. The impact the grants made were recorded:
At our 2019 event to celebrate the first year of the fund, the film below was shown to highlight the impact of the fund.

Why a fund for the Harrogate District?
Many local groups tell us that securing funding from larger, national funders is very difficult as such funders tend to focus on areas of greater deprivation. In November 2017 we published our Vital Signs report for the Harrogate District. This highlighted the hidden and unseen needs in the district and helps makes the case for support and need for THE LOCAL FUND.
We are reviewing the data in readiness for producing the next Vital Signs report. Here’s a 2019 interim report
